Description: Very scarce 1920s-30s sign from Pontchartrain Beach. Amazing graphics of a clown and a roller coaster. The lettering has little dimples in it that really make it reflect nicely in the sun. Pontchartrain Beach was an amusement park located in New Orleans, Louisiana, on the south shore of Lake Pontchartrain. It was founded by Harry J batt Sr. (grandfather of American actor Bryan Batt) and later managed and owned by his sons. It opened on Saturday, June 30, 1928 across Bayou St. John from an existing amusement resort at old Spanish Fort. Pontchartrain Beach’s original location is the present day lakefront neighborhood of Lake Terrace. Nice tin sign measuring approximately 27“ x 21“. Makers mark reads Dura products. Lots of Americana personality from the Art Deco graphics of this original antique sign has achieved over the years to get it its charming, rustic personality. Rust, wear, marks, etc.. Good Luck!
