Description: Antique circa 1919, Homer Laughlin Oval Covered Vegetable Serving Dish. Empress shape. Marked under the lid in gold E4006. I can't locate this pattern but it is very close to the Capital pattern. The bands of gold are a little thinner and there is an extra band around the center of the lid.8" long. 10.5" from handle to handle. 5.25" The bottom is marked Homer Laughlin 11 9 N. This dish was made in November of 1919 at the Newell West Virginia plant. This line of Homer Laughlin was produced to look more simple and streamlined to go with many different patterns unlike the more ornate counterparts. This caused controversy in it's time because the more elite were used to the ornate patterns that had previously been the norm.
