Description: Antique jewelry box by Ellington & co. England , circa 1873. This is a PRETTY and ANTIQUE jewelry box, done by the famous silver maker Elkington. George Richard Elkington ( 1801-1865 ) Birmingham, United Kingdom. All decorated with playing putties, all over the box, different scenes, excellent work. The hinged lid same design, ending with a cherub playing music. All gold plated. Stamped with the full old stamps of Ellington & co as well as letter M which indicates the year of 1873. Numbered 13376 on both bottom and underneath the finial ( see photo ). Please see photos carefully to admire the beauty of the piece. Dimensions : H : 5.25 inches ( 13 cm ) Diameter : 4.5 inches ( 11.5 cm ) Weight : 1 lb 3.4 oz ( 552 grams ). Condition report : I detached, cleaned and waxed the box. No damage or broken pieces. Minor dents at the bottom only ( see photos ). Gold plated well preserved. VERY GOOD CONDITION
