Description: Lovely Antique Pre-1900 GRINDLEY ENGLAND Semi-Porcelain Round Covered Vegetable DishPiece has gorgeous pattern of CHRYSANTHEMUM flowers on lid and sides of bowl.Flowers are in shades of very subtle light teal blue and green, with faint yellow accentsWonderful scalloped edges to lid, bowl sides, and it is FOOTED with scalloped bottom 'feet'.Very fancy elaborate handles on each side of dish and on lid.Fancy Handles trimmed in gold swirls and there are EMBOSSED swirls and curls in the porcelainBase color of piece is a creamy ivory Size Approx. 11"Wide handle to handle, 5"Tall with lid on, 3"Tall without lid, 7.75"Across opening of dishMarked on bottom with Globe symbol and the words 'semi-porcelain, GRINDLEY and Co ENGLAND' in brownish- green Good Condition No chips, nicks, scratches, damage EXCEPT that the handle on top of the lid has been broken and repaired at some point. See last 2 pics for detailed views. Sounds worse than it is- 3 pieces of the handle have been reglued back into their exact position and this does NOT effect the shape or outline of the handle. Because there is gold trim on the handle, the lines where the damage was repaired almost look like trim. Lid is completely usable and does not effect strength of lid. No other damage or repairs to bowl or lid at all. Piece does have crazing throughout the glaze which is normal for an antique piece- shows as very fine hairline crazing, has not darkened, and is visual only not feelable. Glaze is smooth and shiny.This is a gorgeous piece, the colors of the flowers and the shape and design are absolutely charming.Great for a collector.
