This is definitely maple turnings and looks either like cherry seat and back rail and runners, or it might be all rock maple; sometimes cherry looks like maple, in grain, tightness of grain, general color and in some cases furniture makers would combine them if they had similar grain... This rocker has bamboo turnings on the outer back edges of the side turnings - lovely, and a wonderful color. It might have been stained to all match... BAMBOO turnings were popular back 120 -140 years ago because people were fascinated with the "Orient" and stories about it. The little carved "V" out of the front of the runners is very unique and interesting! UNUSUAL!
