Description: Antique 18th C. Meissen Porcelain Figurine "A Boy Teaching his Dog" by Ehder ***SEE OUR OTHER LISTINGS FOR A COMPANION PIECE*** An exceedingly rare and exquisite piece (circa 1740s) from the early period of the famed Meissen workshop. Modeled by Johann Gottlieb Ehder, this piece is pictured in Plate 42 from "The Book of Meissen" by Robert E. Rontgen. Hallmarked on the underside with the factory cross swords in underglaze blue. In addition, the numerals "4291" are inscribed at the back side of the base. Also retains remnants of dealer/auction labels on underside as shown. 4 3/4" tall. Excellent with noted minor loss/fritting to the boy's left thumb and the dog's right ear.
