Amazing Cond~1870s Antique Handmade Quilt HILL & HOLLOW~Hand Quilted 76x66

Description: **This quilt shows brighter in person~the photos dulled the rusty reds a little. WOW! Looks and feels like it was hardly used. What great colors! Antique "HILL AND HOLLOW" or "Path Thru the Woods" handmade quilt. Dates around the 1870s with many fabrics that look older! It's in amazing condition! Comes from a family in Macon GA. Made for the family's Great Great Uncle (or Great Great Great Uncle) after the "conflict". Took me a minute to realize that the "conflict" they referred to was the Civil War! Measures 76 x 66 Very nicely and neatly made. Hand stitched and hand quilted. The quilting is done well and fills the quilt. 6spi. Separate binding hand stitched in place. Very thin batting. Displays beautifully! Nice array of period cottons. There are 2 small patches on the front. The family called them "flaws" as they would have never made a perfect quilt as God is the only one perfect. Nonetheless, they are small patches~see photos. The one is on the edge and harder to see. (see photos #16-21). The last 2 photos show a couple of the fabrics that are starting to fray. This is more from the dyes than from use! It's very minor!! Very good condition!! I have not cleaned or treated this quilt. Fabrics are sturdy and strong. The backing is an unbleached cotton~may be oh'so slightly yellowed from age and storage. Has a few old water spots on the back. Very minor!! The hand quilting shows up really well on the back! Super clean and clean feeling. NO odors! Non smoking environment. **This quilt will need to be signed for at the time of delivery!
