Description: Here you can get 40 seeds of White Rose of Sharon Hibiscus. This kind is called Red Heart because of the red in the middle. Rose of sharon produces abundant showy blooms in the summer and fall. The five-petal, paper-like flowers attract pollinators and reach about 3 inches diameter. Rose of Sharon has a natural upright vase shape with multiple branches and medium to dark green foliage. However, it is possible to prune this shrub to a single trunk to produce a tree form. Or plant them as a privacy hedge. Rose of Sharon can be planted in the spring or fall, and it has a moderate growth rate of one to two feet per year. Hardy in zone 5 - 10. How to plant them: Soak the seeds in warm water for 24 hours to soften the remaining seed coat. These seeds need require a period of cold temperatures to break their dormancy. This process is called stratification, and it mimics the winter season when plants naturally chill in the ground. Place the seeds in a plastic bag with a small amount of damp vermiculite or sand and store them in the refrigerator for 4-6 weeks. After stratification, it's time to plant the seeds. Fill a container with potting soil and plant one or two seeds per pot. The soil should be moist but not waterlogged. Cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil. Or, to make things easier grow them outside if you have cold winter weather. Place them in a protected pot and let nature do its own thing. They will come up when the time is right in spring.Place the pots in a warm location with plenty of sunlight. Water the seedlings as needed, making sure not to let the soil dry out completely. Once the seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them to a larger pot or to the garden. Please have a look at my other auctions.
