Description: Set of 2 Vintage Shelley China Sweetmeats/Trinket Dishes made of Fine Bone China in the "Blue Rock" pattern between 1945-1965 in Staffordshire, England. The dishes are in Shelley's "Dainty" shape, rectangular with lug handles on the sides. They are made of pure white china and have delicate little dark and light blue flowers hand painted around the 4 sides in the dish. The flowers have yellow or black centers with green stems and leaves. The dishes's edges are subtly fluted and scalloped and are trimmed in blue. The handles are painted blue as well. The dishes measures 5" from handle to handle, 4" wide, sit 1" high and are 3/4" deep inside. The backstamp is the Shelley name in green within a shield along with "Fine Bone China" and "England" dating the pieces to 1945-1965 when the company closed. The pattern name and #13591 is stamped in fushcia. One dish has grey line on the bottom that is under the glaze. I can't tell if it is a small crack or a mark made before the dish was glazed. If it is a crack it does not go through to the other side. (Please see last photo). Otherwise the dishes are in excellent undamaged condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, flea bites or crazing. Beautiful little dishes to add to a elegant dining set, to hold a teabag, to fill with nuts or candy or a pretty addition to a vanity as a trinket dish.
