This Auction is for One Copy of The Poster 1999 was the first year the U.S. Open was played at Pinehurst. 2024 marks the fourth time the Championship has been conducted on the famed NO. 2 course. The United States Golf Association (USGA) annually stages and runs the tournament; they have recently moved their headquarters to the Village of Pinehurst. The championship winner in 1999 was Payne Stewart who died in a tragic airplane incident just a few months after his triumph at Pinehurst. This is one of the official posters commissioned by Pinehurst; it is in brand new/mint condition. The poster depicts the 10th hole at Pinehurst and includes the official event logo as well as a rendering of the US Open trophy. The image of the 10th hole is the centerpiece of the poster; it was commissioned by Pinehurst and painted by world renowned artist, Noble Powell III. Each poster is printed on heavy weight satin finish poster stock with fade resistant inks. The sheet size is 24” x 29” and the image measures 18” x 26”.
