Description: 1952 Vintage Bonnard Mini-Poster « France Champagne » 9 ½ x 12 5/8 inches (24 x 32 cm) Printer : Mourlot, Paris Multi-stone color lithograph (after the original Bonnard lithograph). Printed in 1952 on Renage paper at the Mourlot atelier in faithful recreation of the original. According to the publisher, "this lithograph was pulled by Mourlot Freres in the same technique, using the same color range and number of stones as originally employed by the artist in 1891". "France-Champagne" was designed by Pierre Bonnard in 1891. “Bonnard was just 24 when he made his first foray into lithography and poster design, but his initial effort, France-Champagne, was a stunning success. The great poster connoisseur, Maindron, immediately called it ‘one of the most interesting works to be seen on the walls of Paris.’ Admiring this poster, Toulouse-Lautrec was taken by the artist to the printer Ancourt. Father Cotelle, one of the workers, is said to have introduced Lautrec to the technique of lithography. A very fine example of Pierre Bonnard Modernistic 20th Century style. This poster is in excellent condition. There is printed text on the back, as issued. Signed in the plate. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction.
