Description: This is an interesting 1943 scrapbook for the Detroit Lions. It includes 100 newspaper stories and 46 pictures from newspapers and 2 photographs from training camp in Cheboygan, Mi. This war year scrapbook covers the season that ends 6 and 3 after a winless 1942 season. The scrapbook was from the estate of Bob James who helped out the training room for the Lions that season and would be team trainer in 1950 after he served in World War II. it does not cover the full season as it ends after 7 games. Cool articles about Coach Darius who coached University of Detroit in 1942. Cool poster about a fund raising game against the Army All Stars. News about draft choices, stories about Lions Owner Mandel, Stories about Lions opponents including Lambeau of Green Bay and tough Chicago Bears. Lots of cool action pictures of games at Briggs Stadium. A very cool item from the war years team. They could only keep 25 players because of the war recruitments. Story about expansion and reduction of the league and $25,000 franchise fee. Great original history articles for the Detroit Lions fan. The articles are in one of those scrapbooks where the articles are covered by a removable clear sheet and the articles could be removed if desired.
