Description: 1883 Virginia City, NV billhead for the Pacific Mill and Mining Company, Mariposa Mill. The Pacific Mill & Mining Company was created by the Bonanza Firm (John Mackay, James G. Fair, JC Flood, & WS O'Brien) to consolidate their mining and milling operations after the Big Bonanza discovery in 1873. The Mariposa Mill was located at the head of Sevenmile Canyon, south of the Sierra Nevada Mine, and north of Virginia City. Kelley reports on it in 1862. By 1867, the Bank of California/William Sharon ring owned it and it was called the California Mill.
