Marks opened a store in Naples in 1839 and eventually became an undertaker. He was also a noted abolitionist and used his hearse to transport escaping slaves northward to Canada, making his business an important stop on the underground railway. This note features a Vignette of an eagle at the top. This Civil War era scrip grades Very Fine+ with a couple large pinholes and a small tear on the bottom left edge.It measures ~ 4.5" x 2".
