Description: 1860s Brass Dresser Mirror American Made Restored Condition We have listed an Antique American Solid Brass Dresser Mirror That dates To About 1860 In Restored Condition. The mirror most likely was made In an East Coast foundry , as this is where it came from. I doubt if it ever was polished as the patina was black when we bought it. It has seen better days long ago but the brass frame has been restored to it's original luster and a replacement mirror has been made. You will look a long time before you find another like it. This is a very hard to find style in any condition. Description :American made about 1860s.Forged in solid cast yellow brass with extreme detail.Acid washed in restoration process.Finished in a satin brass patina.Has several coats of hot lacquered finish.A replacement mirror ( double strength with ground edges ) was made in a complicated cut pattern. We saved the original tin mirror backing , re - painted with green felt between mirror and tin backing. There are a few bumps and dings and the very bottom , left bottom leaf has a slight bend.Only one mirror threaded bolt is original , three replaced. There must have been a stand with it as there are two drilled threaded holes where bolts would connect. As it is now it will stand up by it self but is not very secure , I would recommend installing a small wire from upper bolts ,and hang it on the wall.Photos of the back with mirror cover removed have been posted as well as new mirror Please ask all questions before placing any bids as there are no returns.
